The Café is a collection of cheerful, thoughtful, and relaxing spaces facilitated by Kimchica on Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok where you can hang out and discuss topics both silly and serious regarding games - especially indies - the game industry, and how they connect to our lives.
Who is Kimchica?
Kimchica (Jenny) is a game dev, content creator, and host who focuses primarily on indie games. While she began creating content as a way to explore bringing games into the classroom (she’s a former middle school teacher!), this hobby quickly turned into a fully-fledged career as a community developer in the game industry, in addition to maintaining her content creation on various social platforms. Kimchica believes wholeheartedly in the power of kindness, the importance of taking action in your community, and using games and play to reflect on who you are (and who you strive to be!)
We celebrate the success and growth of fellow community members and lift one another up. Real-world discussions will happen, and we will tackle serious topics head-on, but this is a community that strives to fill your cup, rather than empty it.
We engage sincerely and respectfully with one another, making sure to prioritize compassion. Kindness includes standing up and speaking out when something isn't appropriate or right. We also believe in allowing space for people to ask questions and learn, and always remember there are people behind the screen.
We believe in taking action to support the causes and people we love. We understand that this service can take many forms: fundraising, volunteering, spreading the word, and personal education are just a few. We also understand that part of taking action is ensuring we take care of our own mental and physical health.
